s430 weird starting problem!!!!!
hi everyone
i have a 2000' mercedes s430 (w220), i recently been having a starting problem, when i turn the key the car sound like its going to start but it just keeps trying and it wont start the problems only happens sometimes, and usually when it happens i have to wait about 10 minute and try to start the car again then it will start. i noticed that the problem dosent happen when the engine is cool, (like in the morning when im about to drive to work), i think most of the times it happened i had driven the car somewhere and parked for less then 2 hours and tried to start it again. The car now cuts out whilst driving it, it does eventually start again... ANY IDEAS????????? |

CPS! Crank Position Sensor
Both the No Start and "when warm" symptoms seem to be quite common. The when warm seems to be linked to the sensor having gone out of resistance range when warm. Stuart. |
RE: s430 weird starting problem!!!!!
Is that the same as a camshaft position sensor?
if not, is the crank shaft position sensor a dealer part only? and how much are we talking????? |
RE: s430 weird starting problem!!!!!
camshaft and crankshaft are completely different sensors. Where i live you can get one from dealer for about 160 bucks. Hope this helps!!

RE: s430 weird starting problem!!!!!
Maybe do check with the diagnostic machine before replacing the crank or cam sensor... juz to make sure its the right faulty sensor that youre replacing... or youre gonna waste money to replace both...

Faulty CPS doesn't always set a code.
