Projector Headlights installed

2000 S430, stock passenger, '03-05 upgrade driver. I love them, will do the HID soon.

Sweet...what a difference. How long do they take to install? Tight spots for the tools?

10 min per side, I disconnected the plug at the back of the stock light, there is a small tab to press down on and wiggle the plug loose whilst pressing on the tab.

There are only two screws to remove at the upper light attachment. I also removed the two bumper screws right at the grille opening to allow me to wiggle the light out by flexing the upper front bumper edge right below the light.

There is a small metal knob that fits into a hole on the inner fender, when installing, I aimed for that hole and just wiggled it in while pulling and flexing the loose bumper edge for access. No tools other than an 8mm and 10mm socket.

I love the look, well worth the upgrade. The light beam is similar to Xenon i.e. focused in a line on the garage wall, the brightness and whiteness is similar to stock. I only tested it in the driveway at night and it seems as good as stock. The real test is on some back roads in the dark tomorrow. The Fog lights are brighter and the signals are a very rich yellow and much brighter than stock.

I plan to upgrade to the Xenons by Spring. You might check K1 on this forum, I did not know about them before I ordered, they have the upgrade lights and Xenons I think as a complete package.

One other point, on this brand, the rubber gasket at the top of the light is a bit short so there is a half inch gap where the stock gasket is flush with bulkhead, minor but not perfect, I doubt rain water will be an issue but to play it safe I may silicone a gap filler using some of the flange rubber from the stock lights.

Thanks, but at night I can't see, I have another thread re: going back to stock. Anybody want to buy a slightly used set of headlights that won't light up the road on low beams.

You may want to consider our DEPO clear projector headlamps with built-in Philips HID kit.
