I have a Mercedes Benz 2001 S500 and it has roughly 200k miles on it. Recently the transmission has been jerky from down shifting from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I have spoken to a mechanic that told me that there is a metal plate in the transmission that may cause the jerk from 2nd to 1st gear. I am just wondering if anybody has ever experienced that. I do not have lots of money to fix it and would like to know for sure that, that is the problem before I bring it to the garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check the fluid level first....could just be a leak at the trans electrical connector. youll need a special tool to check the trans fluid level.

 

I checked the fluid it seems like there is a little bit too much, could that be it?
