Looking to purchase S Class, any advice?
 

I am looking to purchase a 2001-2002 S600, or possible an S55 amg. I know they upgraded the S600 in 03, but it is out of my price range. Any advice at all? I am new to mercedes. Thanks

If your new to Mercedes I would start with a C Class or E Class. The S Class is a wonderfully complicated car, and if you get a " bad one" the repair bills are very high. I have a 99 C280, great car, no problems in the last 3 plus years since I bought it except for an MAS and new O2 sensor. Fixed under Mercedes Starmark warranty. If I had to pay for them, about $400 for the MAS and around $300 for the O2. I looked at some S classes earlier this year, 1999 and 2000, surprisingly they don't hold their value well in this area? Why? Beats me.
