Default Help a newbie out...

I'm looking at a 2001 S55 AMG Silver with Black interior and 115,000 miles. It's listed at $12,000. The interior is in so-so shape and everything seems to be working. It seems to be a decent price. What kinds of things should I be looking/asking about in terms of maintenance? The brakes squeak pretty bad and he said that it was because Brakes Plus put non-oem brake pads on it and that's why - does that make sense or do you think there is an underlying problem? Anyhow, just a newbie looking for some advice. Thanks!

well squeeking is a byproduct of cheap brakes..... i wouldent let that stop me,,, you can always get some new rotars and pads... thats not the end of the world,,

I would be more concerned about the engine,, the body,, rust... transmission,,,

stuff like that..

where is the best place to pick up some decent brake pads? are there any national chains that have them (don't really want to go to stealer for them).

I plan on getting a ppi on it too. Thank!

check the front and rear wheel arches for sign's of paint bubbling and around the bottom of the boot lid as this is where most mercs start to rust it is easly sort if noticed early.
