Help with Headlights/Dash Lights
 

I recently inherited a 1990 300se. It’s a great looking car with about 212,000 miles on it.

I have begun restoration of the car I decided to change out all of the fuses. When I first got the vehicle none of the interior lights or any power accessories were functional… Thanks to Replacing all of the fuses in the box, everything on the car has come back to life except for the headlights. The instrument cluster and center console lights also have an interesting problem. They work when the car is not turned on but the dashboard switch is in the on position (and the buzzers sounds)… However they turn off as soon as the ignition is turned on no matter what position the switch is in. The headlights do not work at all and the bulbs are new.

I am perplexed why the dashboard lights would come on when the car is not running and the switch is on and will turn off when the car Is turned on. And I’m at a loss on the headlights.

Any thoughts or ideas of where to start troubleshooting this problem?
