Default Hello Everybody Help Need!!

Hi my name is Alen and am new to this site i accidently discovered it and it helped alot for S-class Mercedes that i have.

I have just couple of questions and i promise i wouldnt waste your time anymore. I have a Mercedes S320 1995. In this car i have an engine check light on i erased the faulty code and after maybe 5 turns when i turn the car on it comes back on. On the scanner it reported air mass flow or sensor am not quiet sure. I don't know what to do?. Also one more when i want to unlock my car well when i brought it it didnt actually lock when i press the remote button on the key. How do i get it to work by just pressing the buttton to unlock the doors for me or the trunk.? instead of jumping from one seat to the other to open the drivers seat so i can drive it?. please help it would mean soo much to me.

I know its alot of questions and am new to this site so am all exciting to get some information whatso about this crisis i have. Thank you very much

ALEN

Hi,
Very simply you need to replace / clean the MAF and possibly replace the PSE Security locking module.
Both issues are well documented on this site.
Both are "standard" MB issues circa >70k miles / 5 years.
Both are very simple to repair DIY but moderately expensive dependent upon part sourcing. Breakers yard to most cost effective way but ensure part numbers are identical.

MAF Sensor yes...it's easy to do and it's a DIY. However, PSE...hmmmm it's very expensive and they do go bad, but be VERY CAREFUL that it's the PSE because it could be just a vacuum leak. It could be a very expensive misdiagnosis. What I've seen so far...it's about 50/50...PSE or VACUUM leak. So becareful...no unnecessary repairs...

take care,

Hi,
So are we talking all the doors fail to lock/unlock with the remote or just one?

If its just one it is PSE, vac leak or door actuator.
If all doors fail to work it is the remote, the remote receiver, the PSE or its power supply.

Does you alarm work?
Arm the car with a window open and once armed (red light on dash flashes) open the door from the inside?
If the alarm works correctly on opening the door then the remote and remote receiver are working OK. Therefore its almost certainly the PSE.

However the PSE also works the security/alarm so if the alarm doesn't work correctly you are back to : remote, the remote receiver, the PSE or its power supply.

Vac leak is not that common at relatively high mileage UNLESS the installation has been disturbed. Why should you get a vacuum leak in a static system after say 5 years 80k miles unless it has been tampered with as lets say the result of accident repair to LH rear.

I fully agree that you should proceed with caution. Read all the other posts regarding PSE troubles on this and other sites.

Final clue. Do you park nose down on a hill. If so this creates a situation whereby water can enter the boot unless the boot seal is 100% effective. If water gets into the boot this considerably increases the chance that it is the PSE at fault.

hello everybody thank you very much i really appriciated this that you took your time to write it down for me. I checked for the pump in the back rear seats and couldnt find it can you possibly tell me where its located???

For the centre lock thing. Well i have 2 keys and both are recrievers and when the one i am currently using does turn on the alarm in the dashboard and it does go off depending i havent really tried the fact you said about the open window and armed car. I will try it and let you know.

Could it be possible that this recriever that i have right now at the moment is the right one because when i leave all the windows open and press the button on the recrieve it closes them?? or should i try using the other one but the other one is runing out of batter??

Thank You VERY VERY MUCH!!

Hi Livno

I had a similar problem with my remote key.I could only open the doors manually. Press the button and hold it for 30 seconds then put the key in ignition and turn iton so the lights on the dashboard come on, leave it in that position for 30 seconds. This worked in my case. I think its something to do with synchronising.
