I recently purchased an '04 S600 with under 14,500 miles. The car had one owner in Florida, and it now resides with us in PA. I thought the S600 came standard with a heated steering wheel, but have since found out it was an option that this car does not have. Is it possible to add heating to the steering wheel?

Also, is it possible to add the automatic trunk closing feature (closes trunk with a button).

Any insight is appreciated.

 

remote trunk lid closing...yes.

steering wheel heater...yes, but you will get dizzy on how much it will cost.

 

Do I have to go to the dealer, or is there another more reasonable source? OK, how much for the heated steering wheel? I'm sitting down. My wife got spoiled with her BMW 740IL that had the heated SW. I thought it was a waste of time, but she loved it and really was disappointed that this car did not have the option. Our S600 is like new condition and I can't gripe, but, I'm just trying to help her be thrilled with her new car.

 

the dealer is a good place to install the remote closing trunk lid, but i doubt they can do the heated steering wheel.

it needs few parts and you have to replace the steering wheel, install wirings, DC/DC converter (12 to 48 volts for you need 100 watts for it), steering adjustment switch, and control unit and maybe steering column module.

cost? let me know if you are serious about it and i will check how much each parts cost.

 

I spoke with two local MB dealerships today about my request to add a heated steering wheel and remote trunk closer. Both said that I could not do it, as it is only offered as an option from the factory. They both offered to send me to the sales department to discuss ordering a new S600 with the options we were seeking (LOL). Both guys were dead serious too! I may have to find a customizer?
