fuel consumption
 

hi, im new on here, and am buying a 2004 s class 320cdi, i was just seeing if anyone can give some real life fuel consumption figures for this vehicle? im sure once i have the keys that i will be on here for advice and information as i am always on the bmw forums as i have a bimmer to.

How do you drive - like an old man or like a 18 year old let loose on the roads? It makes a huge difference with a large car like an S class. Drive like an old man, accelerate slow, 65mph on the motorway etc, and you should average in the lower 30s without problems. Floor it at every traffic light and keep pushing down the accelerator (eg after a bend etc) and you will average low 20s, if that!

Once they are up to speed they are economical, but getting up to speed you use lots of fuel as they are heavy cars for the engine to move. Because of their mass they do keep going if you take your foor off the accelerator for longer.

Guess I was born old. even at 18 I drove responsible and wasnt into all that rip roaring showing off nonsense (and drove a 95 Caddy Fleetwood to boot). Then again, driving like an old man depends on the old man. Seen some in old firebirds, corvettes, GT500 Stangs, Benzes and even Lincolns getting it in on the highway like they have only 5 more minutes to live.

regardless of style you'll get a good bit more better mileage than the gas versions.

Welcome to the club of the MBZ. When I was in germany, most of the S-classes of that body style was 320 CDIs. They are good cars and havent heard much complaints.
