Front end noise
I bought an 88 560SEL about 6 months ago. It's only got around 75,000 miles. It came equipped with a set of AMG monoblocks. The ride was fairly smooth and quiet, but just lately I'm hearing a hum in the front end. Can't hear it over the road noise with the windows down, but it's loud enough to be noticeable through the firewall. Audible at 30 mph and changes pitch/oscillates as speed increases. I was thinking wheel bearings. Any other ideas? Does the AMG low-profile conversion present any challenges for this suspension system? Thanks in advance!

RE: Front end noise
yes it's wheel bearing. packing it with grease won't solve the problem. replace them.

MY THOUGHTS TOO..

RE: Front end noise
Just an addition, I also would not repack them - they are fairly inexpensive, and might as well get new ones in there.

RE: Front end noise
Just an update...thanks for your help! It was a left REAR wheel bearing! My old ears deceived me. Apparently the bearing race had split and was free to rotate? I had both rear bearings replaced. A bit expensive for labor because apparently they are pressed in and difficult to remove and re-seat. I'm glad I got it done before it caused worse damage.
