Engine stalling
 

I have a 1994 Mercedes, E420. The engine was replaced form a salvaged S class newer model.. That replacement engine began repeatedly stalling while driving shortly after it was replaced. Numerous remedies were tried and failed. Finally it was discovered that moisture was passing into the distributer through a seal at its base. The fluid was shorting out the spark. Replacement of the seal solved the problem. The replacement engine had only 68,000 mi. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

never personally had this problem but I heard of this problem, especially with engine swaps as sometimes the distrib. does not come with new engine and old parts have to be switch over and or new ones ordered. Sometimes the seal if reused does not seal water tight and sometimes the seal gets damaged during installation and or was bad on arrival.
