My 140 S500 equipt with becker RADIO GRAND PRIX flashes E 2 when switch on power What does E 2 code mean, please advice, and if nay one has the full error code, kindly provide information, thanks

i don't have your DATACARD in my system, therefore i have no idea if your car got the CODE 810 which means "sound system". it is important to know if it is wired for sound system version.

i can only guess that your original radio was becker mexico 003 820 19 86...was that right?

was your new one a becker grand prix? may i have the part number to know the possible combination and additional things that you might need.

if i am right, you might need"

002 820 27 89 - alpine CD changer
002 820 28 89 - amplifier
140 820 23 14 - bracket for amplifier
002 820 32 89 - amplifier for CD changer
140 820 00 89 - amplifier (booster)


please check your email, i have sent all the wiring diagrams there (2) and also the E2 code.

CHECK FUESE IN TUNER IN TRUNK I BET ONE IS BLOWN..IS ON THE SIDE OF THE PANLES...ITS A PUSH IN FUSE,,LET US KNOW ..

My radio displays E 3 code. Called Merceds hotline >>> they have no clue.
Called local dealer, they told me "You need to bring the car over, so we can take a look into our books".... at $110/HR

I played with the radio and CD changer. Dissconnecting the battery and re-coding the radio didn't help.
Than I disconnected the CD changer and got ..... E 2 code.
Connected the changer back and back to E 3.
Don't you just love electronics.

E3 is connection lines between the CD changer and reciever.

if your radio have remote control, check connection between reciever and remote control.

if still not ok, replace the reciever.

If I could bother you a bit more?
I pulled the radio out and I have only single multi-wire cable between the radio and changer. When I uplug it the code changes to E2. Where wuld be mentioned receiver?
Also if the changer or connection is defective, I still would like to use radio/tape player, but can't. Any info how to disable changer and keep the radio working?

Mine is E300 model, but I believe those are the same radios.
Good news, I finally had opportunity to go to Becker repair shop in Burbank, CA.
Those guys new right away where to look. Turned out, that radio is having receiver hidden at the top of r-r fender and one of the cables come off.
3 minutes fix for $20. It is nice to have the radio back [8D]
