ASR Problem

i had a 94 s600 a couple of days ago
i put a wiring harness in it.
the wiring harness cost $1500
and the labor was around 20 hours.
the car has not been back since.
i cannot say this will fix your car.
but more than likely you're car needs a wiring harness regardless.

ASR Problem

Did anyone ever fix this ASR problem? I have been having it for about 6 months on and off. Haven't taken it to a dealer yet as it always self corrects. Sometimes for a month. Lately it is more frequent.

ASR Problem

This must be a time issue, my 92 500 SEL (70K miles) started this stuff a few months ago. It seems that it is happening at a increasing rate, a restart seems to clear it all the time but required two tries the last time.

I think the brake lamp switch has been identified, cheap fix! Corroded connections on wheel sensors another. The idea of replacing the throttle control, or the harness, is not something I want to jump on quickly. According to my information the failure should set codes that MB can retrive via the body computer. I wll go that route, my dealer is usually pretty good.

If it fails with regularity, it may be time to trade it out

RE: ASR Problem

GUYS, THE CULPRIT IS THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE ACTUATOR HARNESS AND SUBSIUENTLY THE EGAS CONTROL MODULE WILL BE DESTROYED, NOT THE BRAKE SWITCH.

I have a 1991 500SL and ASR problems. Mine won't go off. The dealer quoter $2500.00 for the module. Any way to bypass this without upsetting the computer or anyone direct me to a cheaper part, new or used?[:@]

RE: ASR Problem

I had the ASR come on in my 1991 500 SL and after repeated trips to the shop, they wanted to replace the wiring harness. Lots of $$. Began to research matter and my problem turned out to be located inside the control head of the electronic acelerator harness. Although sealed, water somehow got in and caused damage. Replaced just this harness and all is well for past 10 thousand miles.

This harness can come off but must be properly placed back on.
