Any Problems with high mileage 2000 s430?

I am looking at a 2000 s430 and also a 500 with high mileage, approx. in the 90k's. Its all I can afford right now, but I am inquiring because I want to know if they are known to have problems. I know it is the first year of this generation and obviously they are way passed the miles in the warranty stage, but will they last for some good time after? Basically is it even worth it to buy. Thank you to anyone who can help. Chris

Didn't know 90K was now considered high mileage now and days. Well at 90K no unordinary mechanical break down things should be occuring, but as long as the regular maintenance has been followed, this car should be able to reach well beyond the new age super high mile range of 140K and more. This is the easiest time to maintain a car since all you have to do is follow the book. Simple.

Check service history. No there are not reaccuring problems, but any problem I see runs $750.00++

I'm let you in a tip. When something happens to your Mercedes and it needs fixing,

Four things you must do is

1) Shop around
2) Shop around
3) Shop Around
4) Remember that it's a Mercedes.

Prices and quality can range vastly for the same services. Some differences can be a few hundred dollors but lower doesn't always mean better just as dealer doesn't mean it will be done right 100%. Just shop around until you find someone you are comfortable with and try to stick with that person and or shop.

And by the way, go for the S500.
