Hello, I have a 1987 560SEL with 128K. It runs great, but all of the sudden the engine just turned off without warning. It started up 10 minutes later and drove 5 blocks and died again. When I tried to start it again I could definitely smell that it was getting fuel. I pulled a plug and it was not sparking. After fiddling with the ignition coil and wires it started (3hours later) and I drove it 15 miles and it quit, then another 15 miles home and let it sit running in the driveway until about 10 minutes later when it unexpectedly just stopped running.
Thinking that the ignition coil was to blame, I pulled it out of the car. Now I cannot drive it to a shop. I have tried to put it back in but I don't know if I have the wires right because it will not start again.
So my two questions are: What is wrong with my beloved car, and which wires and grounds go where on the ignition coil pack?
