2006 S430 TRANSFER CASE

Has anyone had an issue with a "clunk" in the transfer case.. When first acceleratiing or when slowing to stop. Dealer tells me its a $5000.00 fix !! What the "F".
Car has 50,000 miles on it.. I treat it right.. Why is this a 94,000car ?
