2001 S600

I have recently had extensive work done on my 2001 S600 (~ $15K - collapsed engine mounts, oil leak, coolant leak, all 02 sensors, all spark plugs, etc). After I got it back from the shop, I'm getting "Active Body Control - ABC - Visit Workshop" messages occasionally when I'm driving. Also, sometimes I get a red "Active Body Control - ABC - Drive Carefully" message. This is intermittent. What I typically do is turn off the car and restart it and the issue goes away for a short period.

I've seen that this could be various things, e.g. ABC pump. Has anyone had this issue and how much did it cost to fix? I'm beginning to wonder how much more can go wrong with this car! :(

Thanks! Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

RE: 2001 S600

usually with the Active Body control the valve blocks are the culprit. there are also hoses that start to leak under the car. there is a recall on the abc hose....not sure if your call falls into that vin range. there are 2 valve blocks one for the front axle and one for the rear axle. in the front and rear wheel wells. Ive worked on many ABC problems and the valve blocks are very common, usually if the car settles over a nite or a few days it is the valve blocks, but low system pressure could be the ABC pump....a bitch to replace.

Chassis221, thanks for the info. I appreciate the guidance! Once I take it in I'll post what the issue turned out to be (hopefully not the pump!).

This is even more bizarre. I haven't taken the car in yet. When the temperature is below 40°F, the ABC problem occurs. When it's warmer than this, there is no indication of any problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

your hydraulic fluid could be low i have ha that problem before. if its your pump that should be a wierd annoying noise. but check to see if its the hydraulic fluid in the bigger resevoir on driver side

s600 2001 My car has had the following, both coil packs, plugs, mass air flow, ox sensors , crankshaft sensor, plug insulators, still missfires and sluggish, when fault codes are cancled it runs some better for about 10 minutes and then again runs rough.
