2000 S500 CD and Nav problems(not working)
2000 s500 nav and radio(cd) help
I have a new to me s500 2000 model with two troubling issues.

1) My cd player says the there are no cd's in the magazine and there are. In the trunk the power works and the changer makes noise as though the cd's are loading but no music....Help!!!! P.S the radio seems to work fine

2) Secondly my nav system seems to be broken. The gps picks up the vehicles position but everytime I try to programme a route the system tells me that it has created a route and askes me to drive to a known road. It never locates the known road and starts its navigation from some point I have never been,Must be the previous owners address.

So there is one more issue. I feel as thought the car should be more powerfull. It was running rough yesterday for the first time but today when I drove it it was fine but still lacks power. Could this be the mass airflow sensor???

My dad has an 06 mercedes E320 , but he wants to buy and 03 mercedes s500 with 88,000 miles , the car has a CARFAX report and its a one owner vehicle , the car looks like new .Should he buy the s550 ? is the s550 a reliable car ? is the maintenance on the s500 very expensive ? I have read a lot of bad reviews on the 03 mercedes s class , so i'm a little bit scared !! THANKS

S500 2000 issues...rust & air shocks.
 

I had a problem with rust - but using this forum found out about the rust "campaign" and was able to get at least the doors replaced. So watch out - a car of this class should not be rusting!
Now I have a problem with the air shocks - The car is creaking horribly and you can hear me coming down the street from a block away!!! I've been told there is also a recall/campaign on this issue but cannot find any concrete information. Anyone out there know anything about a recall/campaign for the air shocks???

I also have rust problems with my 2000 s 500 doors. Can you tell me how the campaign works or where to get the information.

I found out more info. on it on this forum - printed it out and brought it into my dealer. They were only willing to fix the doors - but that was better than nothing! Search under Rust -

starting problems
 

i have an s500 2001. beautiful car but recently started to play up when starting up. it seems like the immobiliser is cutting in when it shouldn't be.
does anyone have any ideas?
