Default 04m S430 4Matic (AirMatic Issues)

I put about 350lbs in my trunk and I think this might of caused the issue. the dealer told me one of the shocks might have a leak so it is stuck up?

The visit workshop light came on for the airmatic. The car is also stuck at its highest level. I had left it out in the cold for a couple of days. I put it in the garage for 4 days. After it had plenty of time to warm up it still didnt go back to normal. I even unhooked the battery and let it sit over night. No fix, still the same code and 4X4 look! Please help

While driving on the highway I push the (up) button for the suspesion to go to the highest level. Since its already stuck up, I go over 75mph and it says its cancelled. But nothing happens.

thanks,

robert

Hi and Welcome.

A leak would likely make it low rather than high.

Suspect that the rear height sensor mechanical linkage has broken since the system is reporting a fault.

The system has tried to lower the rear and failed. height readings are non plausible!
The system has checked for electrical integrity on the sensor and likely found it OK.

The 350lb load MAY have had something to do with the problem. On the other hand debris, snow etc MAY be the cause.

The easy way to confirm this non 100% confident diagnosis is to get the car diagnostically checked using MB Star Diagnostics.
This is a chargeable test. Takes about 15 mins and will give codes for what is wrong.
You should get a hard copy report.
This test doesn't actually pinpoint what needs to be done but it should assist in confirming my diagnosis.

Simple DIY job to replace the sensor if you are that way inclined but scrambling under the car with a wheel off is risky without the correct equipment.
Let us know how you get on.

Stuart
