02 S430 Malfunctions on 1st start of the day

I have 02 S430. On the first start of the day, I'm getting the following malfunction warnings:
ESP, BAS, AIRMATIC, STOP LAMP, + ABS light stays on.
If I turn the engine after 2 mins of driving, and start again, all the malfunctions go off.
During the malfunctions on, the vehicle drives normal.
Any one has had a similar problem and/or any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks,
Sam

maybe the steering angle sensor or the jacket tube control module is getting low power (below 8 volts) and deletes the memory.

best way to find out is you start the car, initiate the steering angle sensor by turning the steering wheel from end to end till the esp lamp comes off.

try to read the fault code.

Tried intiinitiating the steering angle sensor, nothing happened. Malfunctions stayed on until i restrted the vehicle. Is there a way to self test the jacket tube control module for sufficent power, and what might be the cause of the low power?
I read in the operator's manual the following under ABS malfunction indicator:
"With the ABS malfunctioning, the BAS and ESP are also switched off. The malfunction indicator lamp and malfunction messages in the multifunction display come with the engine running.
If the charging voltage falls below 10 volts, the malfunction indicator lamp comes on and the ABS is switched off. When voltage is above this value again, the malfunction indicator lamp should go out ans the ABS is operational."
That sounds similar to your second diagnosis Sleepwalker.

sam, i have a very rich experience when it comes to the new S-Class and i do them on daily basis.

however, because of it's electronic components...it is not easy to immediately jump into conclusion without first checking for the fault code stored on memory. best way to start is from that point.

the parts are not cheap and hard to make a false diagnosis or mistake. a price must be paid!

here's some basic info for you.

i have replaced several of these parts on similar problem as yours. the next thing is the EIS.

I have a 2000 S430 and was getting 3 malfunctions on some start ups..ESP, BAS, AIRMATIC. The dealer replaced the steering angle sensor and I didn't get the malfunctions for a while, however, the problem has been ongoing for some time now...diagosed as a drop in voltage....battery checked..ok. If engine is switched off and re started malfunctions clear themselves...still under MB extended warranty. Haven't had the malfunctions for some months now.

Thanks, Gary. That validates Sleepwalker's diagnosis. I'll get an appointment with the dealer as soon as time permits.

in that case, the steering column module needs to be replaced as well. i always replace both of them because the steering angle sensor is piggybacked with the steering module. and that's where the memory is stored.
