R Class throttle response

I have a late 2009 R350 diesel Grand Edition.
A beautiful seven seater Diesal car, but one problem. I can be waiting to go from a crossing or roundabout and I put my foot on the accelerator and nothing happens for about three seconds before the car picks up. This has several times put me in a dangerous situation. The dealers say it has all the engine management upgrades, but the car is still spoilt.
Has anyone else got this problem?

Try using "S" (sport) mode. It will allow you to shift down with less throttle.

how many miles are on the car?

R Class throttle responce

Thank you to those who have posted a responce. Mine is a deisel, with a seven speed paddle shift. The issue is not down shifting, it is from a stop it hesitates. Only 20k miles on it and still under warranty.
For interest a resent journey to Devon of 270 miles at an average speed of 76 mph returned 29.9 mpg and on a recent journey of 80 miles at an avrage speed of 73 mph it returned 31.1 mpg. Certainly better than the Chevy Tahoe I hired recently in the states which struggled to do 18 mpg, but at least the throttle responce from a start was instant.
