hello im new to the forum, i own a ml320 and it has done 100,100 km and is due a service soon , can anyone tell me what the garage should be checking, is there some things they should check like cam chain, auto box, axel oil , it is still under warranty at the moment and i want to know what they should be checking. also there seems to be some noise coming from the engine and it sounds abit like a disel, like noisy valves and the exhaust is abit noisy under the hood any ideas to this.

 

if the noise sounds like its coming from in front of your window meaning by the mirror then the converter could be leaking. I have 110,000 on my but at 107,000 I had to replace the converter for it was split at the weld. In an earlier forum, a writer stated that due to an early recall the dealer replaced his for free and that was with 1250,000 miles. I bought my used my a dealer and didn't know about the recall.
I had the dealer due my 100K which is the usual service but I had them change the trans fluid and the gas filter. ( cost mea little over $1300)If the wires and plugs haven't been changed they would be due.(I did them myself) But you can figure another $600. If the converter needs replacement I'm told you can figure about $1500 for one side(thats if they don't cover it under warranty) I replace my own.Good luck

 

Hey...I have a 2000 ML 320. You can have your local MB authorized repairman do all that you stated EXCEPT for the Cat Converters. Mercedes Benz still has a recall on all converters. I had 2 replaced in August 2006 and I had 114K + on the clock so right there you can save yourself a lot of cash.
