Replace Intake Manifold?
 

Hello all,

A couple of days ago, my 1999 ml320 just flatlined while I was on the freewa. I had it towed to a local mechanic to take a look at it. He ran some tests, and informed me that I needed to replace my intake manifold because it backfired and a hole was punched through it. He says he doesnt know if it is plastic or metal, but the repairs are going to run about $1400 installed. My questions are: 1) Should I have someone else take a look at it? 2) Is that quote a fair price for the repairs? 3) I asked him for the part #'s that had to be replaced and its 1121401101, when I go to online resellers and enter this part #, I dont get any results, can anyone help me out? Thanks for the time.
