Default pwr steering reservior seal

I am replacing the seal on my 1999 ml 320 power steering reservior, the reservior will not go back far enough to install the clip, any suggestions on how I can get some extra torque to "seal" the deal?

usually insatalling the screw and tightening it helps but a little lube on the oring and a slight push with a pry bar helps it into place. install the oring on the neck not in the reservoir itself. then push on the reservoir.
