Need some advise on older ML320 or ML430

Hello every one fisrt post here in the MB forum and is about buying a 2000,2001 or 2002 ML320 or ML430 ,Im looking for a luxury SUV to start my new family ,my wife is going to give birth to a baby girl so my truck has to go and something more family friendly has to come. I wanted to knowwhat should I look for in those year model ,any year better than the other ?? I notice just by looking at pictures that the 2002 has better headlights ,the MPG changes by 1MPG between different years but the engine is the same wonder why? I rather get the ML430 just for the towing ...what's the rating on a 2001??. I was checking carsurvey.org and what people have to say is 50/50 some hated and some love it ,so I don't if is up to me to like or the vehicle is not well build ,so you guys tell me if this is a good buy .Last question Im in Florida right now but moving back to NJ next week so this vehicle is going to be used in snow and deeper snow when I go to Canada so how is the 4x4 in the snow ?? Thanks and advance.

I just joined the forum and saw your post.My wife and I are going to sell a 2002 ML320 probably by the end of next month as we are commited to buying it and have since bought a 02 SLK 320.We will be picking it up next month.Dark Blue,60,307 miles, newer tires, and tuneup including wires and plugs and full brakes at 45k.I will be changing oil, detailing and installing a full set of new mats that I just purchased still in box..Includes two sets of key/remotes,owners manual, and is already set up for towing as it has a mercedes mounted hitch. We will be asking a very reasonable $16,650.If you are interested give me a call at 813-996-5936 or 813-767-7696.Thanks

RE: Need some advise on older ML320 or ML430

I hada 2002 ML320 up until last year March. I upgraded to a 2005 ML 500. The 320 got better gas mileage. I get around 13 with the 500 and 17-18 with the 320. I would go with the 320, especially being out of warranty, as it is easier to work on. You can pick up a nice 2002 for 15-16k. I also am selling my ML500, as I want a CLS, so I am selling it around $32k.
