ML320 Shifter bushing
The shifter bushing has fallen out of the ML320 (2000) according to the dealer and the dealer wants $100 to replace. It looks like the part is less than $2.00 to buy. How difficult is the bushing to replace and exactly where is it located?

does anyone have a step-by-step guide (or even pictures) to replace this Shifter Bushing? I have a ML430 and my dealer says that mine is missing as well.

If you guys talking about little plasting bushing spacing out the shift rod in selector arm of the transmission, then you small flat screwdriver or small pair of long nose plyers to remove locking U-style clip from the end of the rod. About 2 minutes job under the car. I would trust my 11 years old son on this one!

shifter bushing replacement
job is easy if you have right tools . there is 2 bushings 1 on bottom of gear lever n 1 on transmission selector lever both are hard on ground but with a lift no to bad with right tool. we charge half hour to do , bushing $ 5.00 each. bushing has a groove in center of it. this groove needs to split the lever you know half of bushing on one side of lever and other half on other side of lever.
i found making bushing soft will help [ i use a small torch ] but suggest hair dryer or couple seconds in microwave and spray silicone after soft . good luck Jerry |
