ML320 Power steering oil question
Hello everyone!
I have a 1999 ML320. Recently, I checked the power steering oil level. When I removed the cap to the reservoir I noticed that there was a dipstick embedded into the cap which was about two inches long. On the stick itself were measurements and these were broken down as follows:
Max 80C Min Max 20C Min
Max 80C was closest to the cap whereas 20C Min was the end that first touches the oil as the cap is screwed back onto the reservoir
My oil reading is on 20C Min!!!
Could someone tell me how to read this dipstick please. I live in Florida and daily tempreture is around 85F. Also, I did not see any info on this part in my MB manuals. If you say it is there please provide page number.
If I need to add power steering oil do I need to drain all the old oil first or may I simply add oil?
If I need to add oil how many quarts do I need to add?
Lastly, Does anyone know of any online merchants from which I can make this purchase?
Thank you for helping me...

RE: ML320 Power steering oil question
Hello August240!
Thank you for your reply. I just placed a new post today asking how this oil is changed. I believe I'm low because in the morning when I check the fluid level isn't even on 20C. Once the truck has been running it never hit's 80C.
But I can re-perform the measurements if I'm doing something wrong. Just explain what needs to be done and I can do it.
Thanks for your help!

RE: ML320 Power steering oil question
Okey, the way I understand is...when you check your p/s fluid in the morning, it should be in 20oC max.and when the engine is hot,the p/s fluid should be in 80oC max....BUT, last week when they changed my p/s reservoir(because it was leaking and done in MB dealership shop)and when I checked the p/s fluid level next day in the morning(never run yet), THE P/S FLUID LEVEL IS IN MAX.80oC...It`s very confusing...I guess or I hopedthe Tech. in MB knows what he is doing...Let me know if you found something... Thanks
