HESITATION ML350

2003 hesitates first 2-3 mins. after start. NO Matter what temp in summer. Garage temp 80-90 in morn. Outside temp 80. Hesitates at first stop sign ~ 1 mile away. Will ocassionally hesitate 2-3 seconds after FULLY warmed up. Dealer says "problem is common" but no fix. He also says that MB informed him that the prob exists when operating temp is 60 or lower. I couldn't get it through the service reps dumb skull that my garage is 80-90 in the morn AND the outside temp is 80. He still said that the engine temp is below 60 under those conditions.
All you metallurgists out there - Am I missing something? How can the engine temp be below 60 when a hot car sat in a hot garage all night to run in the morn at 80 degree weather. Is this possible?
No codes show up. All computer updates have been performed. Car has 38,000 easy miles.
Any fixes?
Thanks

RE: HESITATION ML350

All I can think of that's easy to check is make sure the rubber air tube coming off the MAF sensor is tightly attached to the hard plastic air intake tube that runs to the back of the engine (throttle body). I've seen these loose and they cause running problems like you described. It may be Ok, but it's worth looking at.
