Extended Warranties

I have a 2007 ML350 with approx. 23,000 miles. I have had the vehicle for 17 months now and I am shopping around for extended warranties. Mercedes is around 4k for a zero deductible,36 months-100k warranty. The warranty would kick in at 50k miles in about 1.5 years. Question? Is it worth getting a 100k warranty? If so, is there a warranty that is as good as a Mercedes bumper to bumper warranty out there for a lesser price? Any suggestions?

I would be leary of an aftermarket warranty alot of times you have to pay out of pocket and get your money back after they review the claim. I would however recommend an extended warranty. Vehicles with this much technology are very expensive to fix and one repair may be more than what you've paid for your warranty.

What I have been looking for is a 0 (zero) deductible policy so I would not have any out of pocket up front spending... Just got a quote from San Jose dealership tonight.... They will extend the factory warranty when my car hits 50K miles with a 2yr/100K mile warranty for $3520. My ML does have many electronics on it including, heated seats, power liftgate, navigation, sensor wipers, dual temp air.....

Having driven only Mercedes since 1970 my German Mechanic 'Carl the Atomic Wrench' [Auto Engineering Lexington MA in 1970's] told me that he recommended that I get them with 2000 + Benzes.

My son got his 2000 ML 430 so as a gift I purchased the MB warrantee. In the last seven years he had received 2.5 times the return on it.

For my 2003 ML 500 I similarly purchased the MB warrantee. Yesterday I surpassed the initial price by over 2 and I still have 2 years left. e.g., ignition wires, bearings, 2nd fuel pump, trip gages,
springs, ball joints, shaft bearings, etc.

Old Balkan expression that translates sloppily "A cheap man pays twice".

Hope this helps.

Best day.

Just bought a extended 2 year, 100,000 mile warranty through Modesto European Mercedes/Volvo dealer. $3,100. Tim in finance was the only one willing to deal with me over the phone and give me a better price. Other dealerships were between $3,850-$4,120 for the same warranty. I also picked up the bluetooth accessory for $375, other dealerships were $400 and $495.

u would have 2 drive 50,000 a year is that really worth it. the 2 years will go by before u drive a 100,000 miles.

Check out warranty direct. The earlier you purchase the better, and the cheaper... read some of the warranty research material at http://www.warrantiesgonewild.com
