Hello. I own a 1998 ML320 whose dashboard light is out behind the left side of the speedometer and the right side of the gauge next to it.

The maddening thing is that the light sometimes comes back on, and it did come back on when I took the ML320 to the dealer to have the problem fixed. Consequently, the service manager said nothing could be done about the problem because there didn't seem to be a problem, and he advised me to bring the car in the next time the light went out.

Then, shortly after I returned home with the car, the light went out again.

Do any one have any advise on what might wrong (fuse, light, connections, other?) and what makes the most sense to do at this point?

sounds like an intermittant bulb- i would recommend replacing all the illumination bulbs in the cluster- only due to the fact of it's age- cheap insurance.
