Default Comand screen

I just took delivery on a 2007 ML500. Very pleased and still learning how things work.

One thing I noticed was that the screen as part of the Comand system has soft keys rather than a touch screen. I have had several other cars that have incorporated touch screens into their systems.

Anyone know why MB used the softkey approach?

Yes, I know how it works, but was asking why they choose the soft key (button on the side with indication on the screen) rather than a touch screen (where you actually touch the screen to activiate the function).
