Try to make this as short as possible. I have a 01 ML 320 with a cracked CC weld. I know this because I visually inspected it myself. I have the service bulletin # 2005060014 and it clearly states that my ML falls within the vin range. Upon taking it to the dealer..(in CT by the way)..they told me that it was only covered for 8 years, 80k. It has 87k on it now. I told them that I didnt think that recalls and service bulletins expired. Its as far as I got. I called the customer service # and they told me that CT only has a warranty of 7 years or 70k?? I said "Thats funny cause the dealer said it was 80k?" The lady said she was sorry and that there wasnt much she could do. Whats the next step here?? I know I could take it down and re-weld it, but its the point of it.

 

Many had a campain or recall on the cats. The dealer can tell if your veh has the campain or had the campain. My guess is that if it had the campain the tech who did it missed the crack.

 

Problem is that its never been to the dealer for the problem. It just started getting loud. I checked it out myself and its clearly cracked. Youd have to be blind not to see it. Nearest dealer is 40 miles so before I brought it down, I inquired about it. My vehicle is in the vin range of the affected models. Whatever..Ill deal with it myself. Dont trust anyone in that business anyhow. It states right on the service bulletin..."Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire..." I dont know about you but that to me that means any year, any mileage. Then I get two conflicting stories about the mileage??..Its all BS. If I pushed, I know I could get it done.
