I'm changing the brakes on a ML-430. There is a caution sign in the dashboard that is lighting up. The car sometimes slows down on its ownwhile I am driving. Why is it doing this? The brakes were changed but is there a sensor that needs to be replaced?

I believe you need to replace your brake pedal switch, search here or google it and read about it. Brake pads and their condition has nothing to do with it.
