BAS/ESP Indicator on - Help...
Hi,
I have an ML320 - year 1999 and it has 180k Klms on the clock. This morning, I found the BAS/ESP indicator light was on and it still allows me to change gear and operate NORMALLY as if there was no error.
I parked the car, take off the key, and a few minutes later, I started the engine, and the BAS/ESP indicator is no longer on.
I am slightly worried with this issue, whether it is safety issue or should I fix it, or how much it will cost, etc.
Can anyone help me with this issue? This is the first merc I have and am not too familiar with the indication.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Nothing to be worried about, I have the same truck almost the same millage, it happened to me ones or twice in 3 years period. Brake pedal switch plunger did not returned fast enough into its normaly open position and triggered the BAS/ESP on.
Switch has two sets of contacts with timer between them checking the speed of brake pedal compression and return so the brake control module knows exactly how fast you are trying to stop the car to apply the correct amount of braking pressure to your pads.
If it comes on too often, replace the brake switch as chassis221 suggested.
