Hello guys , few weeks ago i bought 2002 ML500 . Average gas mileage wasn't to good (about 11.5-12 city and 17-18 highway ) so i start looking to increase that a bit. After some research on web i found out that biggest enemy in my car are so wide tires. Mine have 275/55/r17.
Ok and here is why i m writing that post . You guys not gonna believe what happened when i changed them to 245/65/r17 , Goodyear tires.
My consumption on city is 13.5 but that's not the biggest surprise . Today i went on two h trip on highway and my MPG was 23 on the highway . Yes , Yes i know , i couldn't belive that eather but it was really 23 and sometimes even over. I was so surprise that i recorded to show whoever don't believe.
That car in stock should make 16 on highway on stock Tires. Only changing the tires gave me so much saving.
I m writing this post to tell you guys : i know ML500 looks good with stock 275 tires but is it really worth to change it for that increase of MPG .
245 still looking good (can make a pic) ride is softer since its 65 instead of 55 and ride its more quiet since tires are 245 wide only.
Though will share the experience , good luck with your ML's guys.

sorry , forgot to add , i put 245 tires on my 275 rims and they fit well so no need to change the rims.
