W210 Front Tyres Worn on Inside - Suspension?

Hi All,

My 2001, e320 cdi Avantgarde has shown rather a worrying fault.

Both the tyres on the fron are virtually showing the metal strands on the INSIDE. I was getting a little concerned with the wear on the OUTER edges and put the car on full lock when only noticed the horror.

The rest of the tyre is fine, and there has been no problems with drive, turn, lock, etc etc.

I took the car to several places for tracking and was told it HAD to go to MB as they needed to "weigh the car down before tracking"????

I am confused - any help =

1. On the tyre wear (inside and out) and what to look for when I get it to a garage.

2. The story about no one being able to do the tracking but MB by weighing it down (with my cash no doubt!).

Thanks.

check the lower control arm bushing,, if you havent been to an MB dealer in a long time , youll probably need them, they are common wear items.

221 - thanks,

Car was serviced at MB about 4 months ago.

I will look at the bushes in the morning.

they should have told you about the tire wear when you were there 4 months ago. the tech should have noted it on the ticket.

Don't think there was a problem then - it has only become noticable in the last couple of weeks on the outside of the tyre, and today the inside.

also could be loose suspension components or bent components from an accident or curb or a large pothole. if this something that has recently happened since youve had the car. then maybe someone else also drives the car and hit something.
