W210 Alarm problem
Hi Guys
I have a problem with the alarm on my 1997 E300TD.
IfI lock the car with the electronic key, all is well for about 30 seconds, then the alarm activates. If I then unlock the car with the electronic key, the alarm stops, but if I re-lock the car the alarm will go off immediately.
Can anyone help on this one - or even advise me how to turn the alarm off completely
Many thanks
John

When you lock the car the alarm goes through a set of alarm cycles about 20 of them and then another set of cycles for all the alarm inputs i.e. doors etc. this takes about 20 seconds and then the alarm goes off if it thinks something is not giving the correct input. So if the alarm is going off at about 20 seconds after you lock the door some circuit is being left open.doors, trunk, hood something is out of adjustment and the alarm thinks it is open.
The only thing to do is inspect all of those areas to be sure the switches are not broken or jammed and then disconnect the batttery neg terminal and step on the brakes for 30 seconds to remove all charge and then hook up the battery again and follow your manuals procedure for syncing everything after installing a new battery, which is what you made the system think, this will reset the module that controls the cars systems and may solve the problem. If not it is off to the dealer or indie you go.

Great stuff - thanks for the speedy reply.
I sort of figured it was something like that. I can confirm the interior lights go out when the doors are closed- so I presume that means the door switches are OK. However I can't find switches for the hood or trunk - do you know where they are ??
Thanks in advance
