Vexing Intermittent Power Window Problem
I'm having an interesting problem with the power windows in my 2010 E350. I also had the same problem with my older 2003 E320. The problem is that on particularly cold mornings (we live in DC area, so I'm talking around 30-40 degrees), if I use the one-touch down feature, the window will go straight down as it is supposed to. Then when I use the one-touch up feature, the window will only go up a couple of inches, then stop. Repeated attempts to use the one-touch up result in the window going up only an inch or so and then stopping again. Holding the window up button in place will cause the window to finally go all the way up and close. Here are some additional observations:
- happens on all four windows, not just driver window.
- happens "most" of the time when it's very cold and car has been sitting overnight outside.
- on a cold morning it happens probably 80% of the time when I go to lower and raise the windows.
- seems to be temperature related, as temp warms up, the problem goes away.
- after driving car for a while on cold days it goes away, and windows operate normally rest of day.
- happens regardless whether weather is dry or wet
- owned both cars from new, never in accidents, no other related electrical problems.
- both cars regularly serviced, dealer could not replicate.
- one dealer rep said HE had same problem in his MBZ and was researching but had no answer.
- does not happen in my wife's 2009 ML350.
- have found no service bulletin or advisory about this problem.
Could it be a problem with the CAN-bus? Hard to believe it is a problem with just the regulators or window motors.

Forgot to add one more observation - yes, I've done the "re-program" by holding the buttons in the up position for several seconds on each window to ensure the motors are properly reset, but it makes no difference.

Answer
The Driver door window master control module has been superseded five times due to issues.
Current dealer list is
$374.00
And it MUST be programed into your security system by a dealer.
