very poor raido reception
I've got a 96 with factory head. It had no antenna, so I replaced it. now the antenna does not go up/down, but I can slide it in and out manually. I don't care for the auto up and down function, just want it to receive radio reception.
when I get in and look at the mechanism, I don't really see how the antenna is hooked to radio. the motor has a three plug, i assume that is power up / power down and ground. I don't see a signal wire headed to the front. I can't see anything hanging not plugged in and don't see a plug that is missing it's connection. I do see a 12 or 15pin laying on the floor in the area but assume it goes to CDchanger or other. Please advise with pictures, if you can. I drive 45 min each day, and get sick of the lack of reception (AM specifically) I did verify it's plugged into back of radio. I don't want to buy a new head, if I don't have too. |

There is a coaxial cable attached to the antenna assembly, it may be damaged or not connected.
The antenna case ground must also be intact to reduce static, and for motor function. Roy@PelicanParts.com . |
Yep, both coax and ground are missing. Anyone know where to start looking?
I googled a bit about this, any way to know if the antina is in the fender or built into the back window? I can't tell on my make. |
Answer
You should climb in there with a strong light and mirror to look around.
It is in the driver rear quarter panel area. I hope the previous owner did not cut it off, or remove it. Roy@PelicanParts.com . |
