Transmission or Ignition Misfire?
I'm driving a 2003 E500 I'm experiencing a sudden vibration at different RPM and different gears not necessarily when the car is shifting. I thought it could be a transmission problem but my transmission specialist said the tranny is but he's getting a misfire code in every cylinder and to quote him "Destructive Engine Misfire"
Has experienced such a problem? I appreaciate the input

If you've got a misfire the CEL Check Engine Light will likely be illuminate. Is it?
Exactly what codes were stored?
Misfire can br caused by many things.
Service history?

I've noticed the problem about a month ago and i never got CEL. However, yesterday i got a CEL for 5 min and it disappeared... I got the car checked for codes again but what a surprise, not a single code. At this point i'm just gonna change plugs, wires, camshaft sensor and anything i can change.. if that doesn't solve it.. i'll just drop it at the dealer

Well.. i got the CEL and right away went to my mechanic to get the codes and they were p0300 - p0308 basically misfire in almost every cylinder. Now i'm just going to get the tune up done and start byprocess of elimination to get to the bottom of this. On the bright side, i no longer think its a tranny problem
p0300 - p0308 or p0300, p0301.p0302,p0303.............. - p0308
p0300 is a misfire on random cylinder. P0308 is specifically on No.9.
If on ALL cylinders unlikely the elctrics coil, leads, plugs since unlikely all have gone bad at once. If just p0308 try changing coil, lead, plug on 9 to some other cylinder and see if problem moves.
Any other codes? Symptoms.
I personally suspect fuel since this is common to all cylinders and I am assuming you indicated misfire was on all cylinders. i.e. 00, 01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08
Once again if all cylinders it is something common to all cylinders. Pump, Filter, pressure relief valve, MAF or damaged engine harness?
What is your fuel rail pressure?
What is your service history. mileage, last service, filter cahnge etc.
Bottom Line;.
Suggest you start with a new filter (includes pressure relief valve) and ensure tank is clear of contaminants. e.g. water.
Don't rush out yet for a MAF since the code signature is not right.

So I got the tune up done and noticed an improved performance but now i'm sure its a tranny problem. I get a small jerk when the car is going in "overdrive" not when shifting regular gears.. only overdrive thats why i don't notice the problem when i'm really pushing the car. So, any suggestions?? i have to say the dealer without codes is not very helpful.. they insist its normal.
