Transmission banging into gear
 

Hiya! I've had this problem for quite awhile now, but it's becoming aggravating now. When shifting into gear, reverse especially, the tranny bangs loudly, sounds like the rear of the car is going to drop out. I notice it does this while coasting and applying gas -- seems like it thuds back into gear! It's an automatic, 1994 W124.032? E320 coupe, 88k miles. I even asked the dealership about this earlier on and they said it was "par for the course," as I remember : / Anybody got any ideas?
