Default thermometer gone nuts

The thermometer that displays the outside temp on the dashboard has gone completely haywire. It started to read higher and higher (all the way up to 136f), then stopped displaying anything. Anyone ever had this problem?

On w124s, it's usually on the front bumper, behind the license plate. It's rubber and is held by a screw fastened to the bumper.

I have the same problem on mine (2000 e320) Both the temp reading and clock is all messed up, this has happened twice before, i got it fixed from the dealer but now my warranty is up. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Its crazy that this happened to me 3 times since i only have 76000 miles on my car.

Well I don't know about your clock...if your themostat reading is incorrectly, then you're probably going to have to buy the themostat set, its a cable that run through the engine, from your instrument cluster to the front bumper...
