Switching the e320 gauge to newer one?
I was thinking about switching out my 96 e320 gauge cluster to a 2000+ unit. Is this a plug and play installation as both are practically the same?

not doable. there isn't any provision to support the additional information display windows.
the face lifted variant has transmission gearing display, steering wheel control functions,
radio channel info, etc etc.
i wonder if you were viewing another year and was mistakenly informed that it was similar
to your 96?
