oil change
 

I have a 2000 e320 and am about to do my 1st oil change myself. I have a few questions:
1. Where is the oil filter located?
2. Is it ok to use Valvoline synthetic instead of Mobil 1? What viscosity?
3. Any special parts required?

Do a search in this forum for a complete set of detailed instructions. It's not tough. You will need an oil filter wrench attachment. It fits on a standard socket wrench. Also,I recommend buying an oil pump/vacuum. You can find them online for about $60. Even with these two costs... you will save $ on your first oil change. After that, you will save a tremendous amount of money doing it yourself. Study up online, take you time and you will get it in no time. Good for you that you want to do it yourself.[8D]

pop the engine cover off you will se the oil filter canister.

Tip: Buy the Oil Filter Kit which includes the filter and the 0-rings. Replace the O-rings unless you know they were replaced recently.

Most prefer to draw oil out thru dipstick tube but you can raise the car and drain
from the sump (oil pan) the old fashioned way.

I have searched the site for Oil change. I have a 2006 e320 CDI and a 2001 e320 nd would like to do my own oil changes. Can you point me to some pictures and good step by step direction? Thanks

I would submit that if you don't know where the oil filter is located on an oil change mission you are pretty much dead in the water right there. I would go to Jiffy-Lube and watch...maybe next time....

I appreciate your comment. However, you mentioned that there is much information on this site. I was merely looking for whatever info was available.

Just to clarify things: I almost always change my oil on my cars but these two cars are new to me.
