No heat in 2004 E320

Hi all!
I tried my front windshield defogger the other night, and it didn't defog...only air (not heat) blew out. Last night, I tried just the cabin heat, and all it blows is cold air--despite temp being turned all the way up. Car has a little over 57,000 miles on it. Any thoughts on what is wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hello - take a look at the link below to a DIY tech article from our site. It may help you diagnose the issue. If it isn't the heater valve, there is a chance that it could also be the coolant pump. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can assist with any future part needs.

thank u for your speedy reply! I'll be quite honest, I don't think I'm mechanic savvy enough to do this (check oil, yea LOL). However, if I was to bring my car in to a non-Benz mechanic, to do this, what what the total cost approximately be?
Thanks!

No problem, happy to help out. If it does turn out that the heater core is causing the issue; the heater core itself doesn't seem to be pricey, about $50 on our site - based on the tech article, the job should roughly take 2 hours. So ~$50 + 2 hours of labor at shop's rate. Before spending money on parts, I would have someone look over it to give you a definitive answer as to where the issue is coming from. Hope this helps - let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
