Hi everyone, and thanks in advance for your help. I have scanned this forum, and it has been helpful - so I thought I would introduce myself and ask for some direct advice.


I am currently driving a 2004 Audi A6 that I bought with 93,000 miles and it now has 307,000 miles on it. It still runs, but I decided to start looking and I stumbled across a 2005 E320 that seems like a decent deal. I tend to do most of my car work myself, and I've done some pretty big jobs on the Audi, including changing engine heads, head gaskets, etc. I'm not familiar with the MB though, so I'm a bit hesitant to jump on the deal.


Everyone I know who has owned an MB tells me they sell them at 50,000-100,000 miles and after 100,000 the repairs become a nightmare. These people, however, don't do their own work and they can afford new cars often, so I'm sure any minor issue is a big headache in their eyes and they take it to the dealership and are left with a rental for days. This isn't my position in life, and I will work on things myself and I can live with minor issues - so I take this with a grain of salt.


The car I am looking at appears to be in extremely good condition with 105,000 miles on it. I know I need to change the tranny fluid at this point (it's past due), but I'm unaware of any common problems these cars have that I should be looking for/expecting. Can you give me any insight?
