Default Mercedes e320 timing belt change.

Hi Im new to Mercedes, so i would like to know if my 1996 e320 is driven via chain or belt driven, and if so when is the recomended milage for changing it? as i think the dealer was not truthful, hesaid it was chain driven. It has just gone over the 90.000 miles and has full Mercedes service history.

Many thanks Paul.

M104 straight 6,double roller chain lubricated. The only thing you need to do is if the engine starts leaking oil which the m104 is prone to do at 100k is ignore it and add oil or repair it at which time the head comes off and you check chain stretch.
Keep fresh conventional oil in it and maintain it properly.Learn to diy
mercedesshop.com or benzworld.org w210 section and enjoy it.

Default 99 E320 timing belt

I have a '99 E320 just turned 100k miles.

I just replaced the plugs and wires myself. It was a satisfying experience and I save a lot of money.

Can someone tell me if this car has a timing chain or a timing belt and what is the recommend interval for replacement?

Default chain or belt

ezdriver

you have chain all BENZ have chains. chains never break its the plastic chain guides that go bad.
