Default I need encouragement!

I bought a 2003 E320 last Christmas. Its a beautiful car, Platinum Blue with Stone interior, and I have not had problems. But after reading the posts on this forum, I am scared to death I made a bad decision. I read about radios failing, windows falling, misaligned front ends, bad transmissions, premature brake failure etc...</P>

Has anyone had a good experience on a late model E series? </P>

Hi there. Perhaps I amoptimistic in my reasoning but I think when people have problemsthey tend to be more vocal about it.Most peoplewill notseek out a message board to tell the world how wonderfully their cup holders work.</P>

I just traded in my 99 c230 for a 99 e320 4matic and have had no problems to speak of with either, but if I do I'll be sure to make lots of noise.</P>

Don't worry, dealers will fix everything under warranty for free. But when the vehicle isn't under warranty anymore...hm.....good luck... (gonna miss my clk in november)</P>

I also bought a new E500 this year.. Heard the same negatives. Hope they don't work out that way, but so far for the first 14K miles not a problem. Did rotate tires at 14K mile point. So far nice car. My only <IMG src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0"> was the $$$$$$ to take delivery. But dealer service was <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">. Now the service dept will determine if I buy another MB. </P>

</P>

The E500 is the wife's car.. <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"> Mine is old fashion US 2 dr w/345 hp. varoom in both.. The wife's E and My US car both use the same tires on the front,, too bad I didn't get a tire pressure monitor system like the US car.. </P>

My only problem thus far is that the sunroof won'tclose correctly. When you push the button, it opens just a tad at a time. The dealer "reprogrammed" the auto-stop safety feature and it worked properly for about 1 week, then failed again. As you say, it is under warranty for the next 3 years, but shortly before then I will be looking for something else. </P>

I share the same concerns about my new '04 E320. Thus far, no problems - I've been very happy with my car, but concerned about all those messages about faulty this and malfunctioning that. I'll be sure to share any info. regarding good experiences or bad.I hope i didn't spend all this money on such a potential headache.</P>

Hello. As mentioned on another thread, My parents are Merc Wagon fanatics and also gluttons for punishment, They have had 4 in total (3, 320s and one 500) over the past few years and allhave had some aggravating problems, mostly trim failures and other ****ly things, but two major problems have left them a bit worried, the last one had a noise in the front end at speed that was not fixed after numerous trips to the dealers. They would have it for days, state it was repaired and the noise would reappear as they left the dealers lot. They finally got rid of the car in the end. My father had a 2 hour chat with merc customer service after writting them a nasty letter regarding the handling of the first cars problem, They now are having some agro with a 2004 E320 wagon and they are thinking about getting out of the marque, They also have a 2004 E500 wagon but these problems have left them a bit scared. They are in their 60s and just can't deal with a car that gives them worry, They are considering range rover and I would think thats jumping out of the barrel into the ocean. Best of luck with your cars but, as a long time Merc enthusiast I do not feel they are made to the same quality they were in the 80s and early 90s. I have driven all of my folks mercs (I am 35 by the way and because I am always online they are having me do the computer chat thing to try and suss this new problem as they travel quite frequently and are not online much) and certainly felt they were a bit cheapishly builtfrom what they once were. Sadly the same has happened with cadillac and Bmw as well. Pete</P>

P.S. I think that many formerly top notch co's are building things cheaper to make more profit and allow more folks to buy into the marque, Bmw, Merc, Chris Craft boats, they all seem to have made models than anyone can afford. Not being elitest but there was a time that when you saw a merc, bmw and so forth that you knew the car/boat/whatever cost a fair bit of money and you had respect for their purchase, I know that might sound corny but there are some things that should not be cheapened. Just because I cannot personally afford a new one does not lessen my respect for items of great quality. I will never own a bentley or Roller, but I can appreciate them for what they are, and personally would not want to see a "cheap" one built. </P><edited><editID>pmustang</editID><editDate>38068.2069328704</editDate></edited>
