How do I turn these things off?!?
 

I just bought a 2000 E320. The car does not have a factory installed phone, but when I start it, I hear a loud noise that sounds just like someone pressing the keys on a telephone. It's quite loud and I believe it comes over the speaker system. My dealer didn't have a clue. I pulled the fuse for the "telephone" and the noise disapeared, but my SRS light came on - not a solution. Anyone have any ideas?

My second question, when I lock the car at night, the lights come on for "safety" for like 20 seconds. The manual says only the dealer can turn this feature off. Is that true? Can I do this myself?

This is my first Mercedes. I've had it for two weeks and I may already be sold for life!

The dealer can de-programm the phone, and turn off the lights via the body computer. If the dealer wont, remove the speaker wires, inform them of a bulletin on deactivating Tel-Aid the safety thing is BS from some dealers.
