Help on how to replace E430 brake light
Hi all. I have a 2000 E430 with the dreaded "lamp defective" console message.
I checked the owner manual and it does not tell on how to replace the brake light.
Could anyonekindly post some instructions on how to do a brake light replacement?
Thank you for your help. Regards.

- open trunk
- peer inside to the left/driver side
- see couple of 1" holes in the liner directly behind the taillight?
- poke fingers inside and pull towards front of car. it's a large flap, about the
size of a paperback book
- inside, you'll see bulb base fittings. turn about 45ยบ CCW and remove bulb
- E-series notorious for poor design. it may not be burned out bulb. test by
swapping with bulb on passenger side
- if bulb works on opposite side, it may be the infamous poor-contact, overheated
connection
